The day started with the 100m race heats. The learners were extremely enthusiastic about having the Inter-house back after a yearlong absence. The participation was encouraging as every learner grasped the opportunity to bring in points for their house. The grade 12’s were motivated to make their last one, the best one!
Though the wind was not so great, the athletes out performed themselves in the track and field events. The tension was palatable as Alphen, the winning house, won by only 7 points! Beating Constantia by exactly one event! In third place Silverhurst and Maynard in last position. The positions alternated continuously throughout the day but Alphen ensured they had the final say.
Constantia and Silverhurst that had the performers. Our Senior Victor and Victrix Ludorum was Andrew Carolus (Constantia – 28 Points) and Jenna Stuurman (Silverhurst – 23 Points). Our Junior Victor and Victrix Ludorum was Yusha Khan (Silverhurst – 28 Points) and Melissa Savage (Constantia – 26 points). Constantia won with the best spirit on the day and won the Spirit cup. We all look forward to an even more exciting 2020 event!
